2nd year Kim Min-jae – Rookie Kim Jun-woo, ‘Veteran Julbi’ Young guns shining in the middle blocker forest

A young gun that shines in the center of the court. They are Kim Min-jae (Korean Air) and Kim Jun-woo (Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance).

These two are middle blockers who stand out in the V-League men’s division this season. There are many veteran and veteran players in the middle blocker position. Compared to a wing spiker, experience and know-how are very important, so it is difficult for an inexperienced player to play as a starting pitcher. Nevertheless, the two players are competing confidently with their speed, jumps, and attack power. 안전놀이터

Kim Min-jae, who is in his second year, has fully settled as a starter for leading Korean Air. He scored 183 points in 92 sets in 24 matches. Among middle blockers, he ranks second after Shin Young-seok (Korea Electric Power 211 points). Powerful attacks based on long endurance are excellent. In the blocking category, it ranks 7th with 0.53 per set.

Kim Min-jae is famous for officially starting playing volleyball during his freshman year of high school. His pitching power is short, but with explosive growth, he is now recognized as a high-level middle blocker in the entire V-League. He is growing into the most threatening middle blocker under the lead of Han Seon-soo, the best setter in Korea. Korean Air coach Tommy Tillikainen said, “Kim Min-jae is a player who has the ability to attack, block, and serve. Above all, he is always willing to learn. He will grow further,” he said, expressing anticipation.

Kim Jun-woo was nominated by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance in the 1st round and 3rd place in last year’s draft. Since the second round, he has played as a starting pitcher and has scored 127 points. He is behind Shin Young-seok and Kim Min-jae, Kim Gyu-min (Korean Air) and Choi Min-ho (145 points more than Hyundai Capital). Blocking records the same number as Kim Min-jae. At this level, the Rookie of the Year is likely. Hyundai Capital setter Lee Hyun-seung is considered a competitor, but Kim Jun-woo has the advantage in terms of the number of games played and various stats.

Under the guidance of director Kim Sang-woo, a legendary middle blocker, Kim Jun-woo is growing rapidly. Coach Kim said, “The volleyball sense, serve, and game reading ability are all good. He will continue to play as a starting pitcher. He believes he can do better.”
