‘This is what a trade looks like!’ Texas’ ’62 championship quest finally complete; Puna has 2.19 ERA as starter

The Texas Rangers’ investment in the postseason was the right one. The Rangers’ push for fall baseball is gaining momentum as they stabilize on the mound.

“Jordan Montgomery and Max Scherzer have improved Texas’ starting rotation,” MLB.com reported on Saturday.

Texas has made some recent trades to bolster its mound. First, they acquired Scherzer, a top pitcher who won three Cy Young Awards in the last 30 days.

Scherzer signed a three-year, $130 million free agent contract with the New York Mets before the season. It was actually a two-year deal, with a player option for 2024.

The Mets traded for Scherzer as their postseason hopes were slipping away. It wasn’t easy at first. But talks progressed, with Scherzer deciding to waive his trade veto and exercise his player option for 2024. The deal was finalized with the Mets paying all but $22.5 million of Scherzer’s remaining salary. The Mets will subsidize more than $35 million of Scherzer’s salary through next year’s payroll.

Since switching to Texas, Scherzer has pitched three straight quality starts. He threw six innings of three-run ball against the Chicago White Sox on April 4, seven innings of one-run ball against the Oakland Athletics on April 9, and seven scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels on April 15. He got better and better. In three starts with Texas, he’s 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings pitched.

Montgomery, who came to Texas in a trade after Scherzer, has also been good. Montgomery was acquired in a trade on the 31st, a day after Scherzer. It was a three-for-three trade with St. Louis. The Reds decided to let Montgomery go because they were far away from fall baseball.

Montgomery pitched well in all three games. He went 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings pitched.

With Scherzer and Montgomery in the lineup, the Texas pitching staff has been on fire. In August, Texas had a 2.19 ERA, the best in the majors, according to MLB.com.온라인카지노

Texas won 16 games to finish with a 72-48 record and a six-game winning percentage, solidifying first place in the American League West. They are 3.5 games back of second-place Houston.

Texas, which was founded in 1961, hadn’t won a World Series title in 62 years until last year. They are the oldest of six teams in Major League Baseball without a World Series title. The Rangers’ mound reinforcements have been successful in their quest for a championship.
