Lotte Giants manager Larry Sutton welcomed the rainout of the first game of the midweek series against the LG Twins.
Sutton’s team was scheduled to take on LG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on April 22 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, but was forced to take a day off due to rain. As of the 22nd, Lotte is in seventh place with a season record of 50 wins and 54 losses.
It was a roller coaster ride for Lotte last week. After taking both games of a midweek series against the SSG Landers at home and completing a sweep, extending their winning streak to four games, the team dropped a weekend series against the Kiwoom Heroes, failing to win a single game.
On the 22nd, Sutton reflected on the series against Kiwoom: “We definitely had chances to win all three games. The guys fought hard and well in those situations. But we made mistakes, and those mistakes led to runs, and we let them get away from us.”메이저놀이터
For Lotte, the rainout was a welcome respite from the losing streak. “It’s not so much the rotation as it is the bullpen, where we have a lot of guys who are tired, a lot of guys who are hitters, so overall, it’s nice to get the rainout. We haven’t had a rainout in over a month, so we haven’t had a chance to rest.”
It was a week of ups and downs, but Sutton was positive. “We swept SSG last week, and while we didn’t win against Keum, we didn’t play badly. “We swept SSG last week, we didn’t win against Keum, but we didn’t play badly. It was a week where our team’s strengths and identity came together,” said Sutton. “We’re going to try to pick up the pieces that we were a little bit lacking last week and do well this week.
Meanwhile, Aaron Wilkerson, who started on Day 22, will take a day off to prepare for Game 23, where he will face LG Lee Jung-yong. Wilkerson, who was brought in to replace Dan Straily, has appeared in five games so far, pitching 29⅔ innings with two wins and a 2.12 ERA. Wilkerson will be followed the next day by Charlie Barnes, who will face the LG offense.
