2023 Futures League match-ups officially introduced

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has decided to officially introduce match-ups to the Futures League in the 2023 season.

The KBO announced on the 16th, “If the score is tied from the Futures League game starting on April 4 to the end of the regular innings (9th inning), the game will be played from the 10th inning until the winner is decided.” The KBO piloted a match-up in the Futures League last season. 메이저사이트

In the match-up, players enter the batting order from the next batting order in the previous inning, and the runners place two players who were in the batting order ahead of the batter who entered the at-bat in the first and second bases, respectively.

As last year, the Professional Baseball Futures League this season will be held in the Northern League (Hanwha, LG, Goyang, SSG, Doosan) and Southern League (Sangmu, NC, Samsung, Lotte, KT, KIA). The number of matches in both leagues, excluding Sangmu, was organized into 18 matches between teams. Sangmu, who belongs to the Southern League, added interleague matches to reflect the opinion that the number of matches against the Northern League teams was small. In the interleague, matches between clubs excluding Sangmu will be played 6 matches as before, and matches between Sangmu and the Northern League will be 9 matches, 3 matches per club. Accordingly, the Northern League will play 111 matches per team, and the Southern League will play 116 matches per team (115 Sangmu matches).

Futures League matches start at 1:00 PM. From July 7th to August 20th, all games will start at 6:00pm to protect players during the hot weather and improve performance.
